Today, I want to share with you one of my all-time favorite recipes: Chef Sven’s Authentic Swedish Meatballs. These meatballs are a staple in Swedish cuisine and are sure to impress your family and friends.
Growing up in Sweden, meatballs were a regular feature on our dinner table. My grandmother, Ingrid, would spend hours in the kitchen crafting these little balls of deliciousness. The aroma that filled the house as she cooked them was absolutely heavenly.
Now, I’ve taken my grandmother’s recipe and added my own little twist to create the ultimate Swedish meatball experience. These meatballs are perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed full of flavor.
So, without further ado, let’s get cooking!
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 egg
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let it sit for a few minutes until the breadcrumbs have absorbed the milk.
- Add the ground beef, ground pork, onion, garlic, parsley, salt, black pepper, nutmeg, allspice, and egg to the bowl with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Mix everything together until well combined. The mixture should be moist but not too wet. If it feels too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Cook the meatballs in batches, turning them frequently, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes for a classic Swedish meal.
I hope you enjoy making and eating these Authentic Swedish Meatballs as much as I do! They are a true taste of Sweden and are sure to become a family favorite.
Happy cooking!
